Behavior Modification & Training

Training techniques like desensitization and counter-conditioning help dogs develop positive associations with stressors. A consistent routine and patience can greatly improve their confidence and reduce fear-based reactions.

Positive Reinforcement Training

Reward desired behaviors with treats, praise, or play to encourage repetition. This method fosters trust and reduces anxiety.

Clicker Training

Utilize a clicker to mark desired behaviors, followed by a reward, to create clear communication and reinforce positive actions.

Desensitization and Counter-Conditioning

Gradually expose your dog to anxiety triggers at a comfortable distance, pairing the exposure with positive experiences like treats, to alter their response over time.

Lick Mats

Introduce a Calming Lick Mat smeared with your dog's favorite spread (e.g., peanut butter or yogurt). The repetitive licking action promotes calmness and reduces stress.

Consistent Routine

Establish a daily schedule for feeding, exercise, and rest to provide predictability, which can alleviate anxiety.

Natural Calming Treats

Provide Honest Paws Calming Hemp Treats, which contain full-spectrum hemp oil to help soothe anxious dogs naturally.

Hemp Oil Supplements

Incorporate Natural Dog Company Calming Oil into your dog's diet. This supplement includes ingredients like melatonin and valerian root to promote relaxation.

Safe Space Creation

Designate a quiet area in your home where your dog can retreat when feeling overwhelmed. Include comfortable bedding and favorite toys to make it inviting.

Mental Stimulation

Engage your dog with puzzle toys, scent games, or training sessions to keep their mind active, which can reduce anxiety-related behaviors.

Professional Guidance

Consult a certified dog behaviorist or trainer for personalized strategies and support, especially for severe anxiety cases.

Physical Exercise

Regular walks, play sessions, or agility exercises help expend energy and decrease anxiety. Tailor activities to your dog's breed and energy level.

Patience and Consistency

Behavior modification takes time. Consistently apply training techniques and remain patient to help your dog progress at their own pace.

ABOUT US >

Welcome to The No More Anxiety Project!

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about anxiety—both in dogs and humans. Founded by Julie de Sousa (NYC-based cocker spaniel owner) and Laura Claret (French countryside based, German shepherd owner), our mission is to educate, share personal stories, and provide science-backed insights on anxiety.

Through articles, recommendations, and real-life experiences, we aim to make canine anxiety a recognized issue and help dog owners navigate this challenge with knowledge and compassion. Together, we can create a world where anxious dogs—and their humans—feel understood and supported.
